Stage Configurations

You have been hired to direct a play of your choice. Explain which of the four stage configurations you would choose to mount your production. Why would this stage configuration be the best? How would it help to illustrate the story? What would the audience experience be like?

  1. I would choose the thrust stage, as i feel this is the most personal of the four types.A thrust stage is one that extends into the audience on three sides and is connected to the backstage area by its up stage end. A thrust has the benefit of retaining the utility of a backstage area. The actors are on a wonderful and free stage were they are surrounded by and feed from the audience. They are able to get raped up in the show and the actor in the role. The thrust allows a personal connection in an intimate amphitheater. It is not an overwhelming one such might be in an arena and a greater intimacy between the audience and performers than a proscenium. You are still able to know where to look but you eyes are still free to wonder a little bit and take it all in.

  2. i would pick center stage because that is were everyone looks at when they're sitting in the house. it will help illustrate the story because everyone can see what the actors are doing when its in the center of the stage. the audience experience would be worth the money they had spent to see the play.

  3. If I were to direct a play I would choose theater stage because this way a lot more people can enjoy the play rather than just a select few. It would help illustrate the story by letting the audience experience the play in all different directions rather than the actors being in one place. The audience experience would be incredible because they are not going to see a simple ordinary play, they are going to see a play performed in a 360 degree angle so that everyone will be able to see the actors.

  4. If I would have to direct a play of my choice, I would most likely choose the thrust stage configuration, where the audience sits on three sides of the actors.
This stage configuration would be best because the audience can watch from different angles and they would have the ability to choose where or whom they want to focus on. It would help illustrate the story better because there would be more space on the stage to add extra props and actors. The audience experience would be great because they get to see different angles and see more at once.

  5. I would most likely use the thrust stage configuration. i would use this because the audience is able to have a better view of the stage and the actors.

The semi-circle design enable the audience to see the actors from 3 different angles. it would help to illustrate the story better bcause the audience would feel more involved with the actors because of the closeness and a feel of intimacy bcause it extends out into the audience. there is a back entrance to the stage so the audience is unable to see the actors befor they enter the stage, abd this helps to keep the illustion of the actors character.

The audience would get a better experience from the play because audience like to feel a connection with the actors onstage and the thrust stage gives them that feeling of interaction with the actors.

  6. thrust stage
for the simple fact that everyones eyes are on the stage ( left, right , & center ), nowhere else but the actors are the ones being focused on.
the actors can interact more due to the feeling of better intimacy and the aspect of being close.
