In the video about V-Day, there is a quote by Jane Fonda “Women are being transformed by art.” What does she mean by this? How is this production making a difference, or is it just entertainment?

V-Day is a very strong and meaningful performance that touches women all over the world. I think that when Jane Fonda mentioned that women are being transformed by art, she meant that because of art women are able to express themselves and show their feelings and frustrations they never thought they could. V-Day gives women hope that whatever they are going through there are hundreds, maybe thousands of other women who face the same issues as they do.
ReplyDeleteV-Day is a production that is more than entertainment, it allows women to feel comfortable about themselves. The documentaries of V-Day enable women to talk about things that they don't normally feel confident enough to talk about. Whether it being about rape or just the struggles women go through on a daily basis. V-Day really makes a difference in women lives.
Through Art women are free. Free to talk about rape, molestation, abuse. Finally empowered by a theatre performance. The production Vagina monologue brought forth Vday. V-Day is an organized response against violence toward women.

V-Day is a global activist movement to stop violence against women and girls. V-Day is a catalyst that promotes creative events to increase awareness, raise money and revitalize the spirit of existing anti-violence organizations. V-Day generates broader attention for the fight to stop violence against women and girls, including rape, battery, incest, female genital mutilation (FGM) and sex slavery.
ReplyDeleteThrough V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students produce annual benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues, A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer, Any One Of Us: Words From Prison, screenings of V-Day's documentary Until The Violence Stops, and the PBS documentary What I Want My Words To Do To You, Spotlight Teach-Ins and V-Men workshops, to raise awareness and funds for anti-violence groups within their own communities.
Performance is just the beginning. V-Day stages large-scale benefits and produces innovative gatherings, films and campaigns to educate and change social attitudes towards violence against women including the documentary Until The Violence Stops.
Jane Fonda stating that "women are transformed by art" i think is a means of he rputting emphasis on how women get a chance to truly express themsleves without any fear whatsover. That women have something to believe to stop the violence against them.
In the quote by Jane Fonda “Women are being transformed by art.” What I think she means is that women are no longer being quite about being abused. This production made makes a huge difference to all women out there being abused. In this video, several famous women used there power of their acting and comedic skills to send out a message to all women out there being abused.
ReplyDeleteThe art she speaks of are these performances or monologues woman at her show do. This V-day production has been making a big difference just because it lets women that are scared talk about there experience and relieve unsumounted stress from there iincident. This can even impower other women to be stronger and also educate them on ways to cope with the past issue.I think its a great production and another way women can come together on a single subject and fight against it.
ReplyDeleteThe quote by Jane Fonda is actually very powerful. Art as we define it is all about expression. And in this type of performance art in The Vagina Monologues, women are no longer quiet about the abuse/neglect/mistreatment in their lives. Their voices are being heard and it's paving the way for women of newer generations to know they are strong enough to deviate from the path of abuse in their lives.
ReplyDeleteWomen are being transformed by art becasue now since the Vagina Monologues women are expressing every feeling in art form. they are not shy about anything and this helps them express tragedys, happy moments, or funny ones.
ReplyDeleteThe pieces at first could be misconstured as "just entertainment" but it definitely runs deeper. Some of these women have been through severe, life changing scenarios and i think that shouldnt go unnoticed that they have the courage to talk about their vagina's in serious ways. It relates to more women than one would think
